Call for Papers
Soft computing have been gaining momentum in various areas of
biomedicine. For example, W3C has established a new interest group for semantic
web health care and life sciences. Hence, there is an urgent need for
methodologies, tools, and middleware to facilitate scientific knowledge
modeling, logical-based hypothesis checking, semantic data integration and
application composition, integrated knowledge discovery and data analysing for
different biomedical applications.
Partially influenced by the Artificial Intelligence community,
the Soft Computing researchers have largely focused on formal aspects of
semantic representation languages or general-purpose semantic application
development, with inadequate consideration of requirements from specific science
areas. On the other hand, general science researchers are growing ever more
dependent on computing, but they have no coherent agenda for exploring the
emerging trends in soft computing. Advances in biomedical infrastructure and
biomedical applications based on the soft computing and related knowledge-based
approaches calls for increased interaction among these disparate communities.
This workshop aims to provide an inter-disciplinary forum for
researchers from both the Soft Computing community, and the life science
community. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Fundamentals of Soft Computing in Biomedicine
- Natural Language Understanding and Processing
- Understanding and Processing of Texts and Multimedia Contents
- Integration of Semantic Systems
- Conceptual Graphs
- Semantic Web Services
- Semantic Grid Middleware
- Semantic Web Search
- Knowledge Representation
- Ontology Engineering
- Knowledge Management for Biomedicine
- Semantic Infrastructure and Architecture for Biomedicine
- Multi-Agent Systems
- Biomedical Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
- Data, Knowledge and Software Engineering Issues
- Content-Based Security
- Semantic Computing in the areas of Identity and Privacy Management
